Gordon Dean Degraffenreid

Gordon Dean DeGraffenreid, 77, of Olathe, KS passed to his heavenly home on Saturday, August 8, 2020. He was born on June 21, 1943 in Lake Ozark, MO to Gerald and Mary DeGraffenreid. He and his wife, JoAnn (Adams), celebrated their 54th wedding anniversary in May of 2020.
Gordon attended Missouri Valley College, and received this Masters Degree from Pittsburg State University.
He spent 43 years of his life as an educator and coach of multiple sports. In 1975, he came to MidAmerica Nazarene College (now MNU). While there, he started the Pioneer football program in 1979 and served as head coach until 1991. His last 15 years of teaching were in the Olathe Public Schools where he taught math and coached football.
Gordon and JoAnn have been faithful members of College Church of the Nazarene since 1975 where they served as greeters for 40 years.
Gordon was an accomplished woodcarver of Santa's, snowmen, cowboys, and animals. Although he sold many of his works of art, he enjoyed it most when he carved them for gifts.
He is survived by his wife, JoAnn, sons Jeff (Paula), Jed, grandchildren Faith, Isaac, and Grace, and sister, Sheryl Sloan.
