Geri "Sis" Lou Ann Skogstad, 63, of Edgerton, Ks, passed away on February 27th, 2019. She was born on November 23rd, 1955 to Floyd and Freda (Herl) Winters in Hays, Ks.
Geri was born deaf and after her younger sister Lori was also born deaf in 1962 the family relocated to Olathe, KS in 1963 so the girls could attend The Kansas School for the Deaf.
She married Robert Skogstad in 2001. They were happily married for 16 years until his death in 2017.
She worked at King Radio/ Bendix King/ Honeywell for 31 years. She also worked in the housekeeping department of Meadowbrook Rehabilitation Hospital and her beloved Wellsville Retirement Community.
She was full of life and personality! She always had a smile on her face and never took anything too serious.
Geri is survived by her loving mother, Freda Winters of Olathe, KS; daughter, Dawn Whalen and husband Wayne of Olathe, KS, son Michael Gammill and wife Sarah of Spring Hill, KS , step-daughter Sariena Ellis of New York, New York; grandchildren Brooke Whalen, Dayton Whalen, Kyla Gammill, Ava Gammill , and Madisyn Marsh; siblings Butch Winters and wife Beverly of Olathe, KS, Doug Winters and wife Julie of Olathe, KS ,and Lori Dykes and husband Robert of Gardner, KS; 7 nephews and nieces; Holly(Eli),Aaron (Erin),Amie (Keith),Kyle (Brianne),Travis (Kate), Tiffany and Taylor; and 15 great nephews and nieces.
She was preceded in death by her father, Floyd Winters Jr.; brother Curtis Winters ; and husband Robert Skogstad.
The family will receive guests for a visitation on Monday, March 4, 2019, from 6:00-8:00pm at Penwell Gabel's Olathe Chapel. The funeral mass will be held on Tuesday, March 5, 2019, at 11:00am at St. Paul's Catholic Church in Olathe. Burial will follow in Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to either the Olathe Club of the Deaf, 221 S Chestnut St, Olathe, KS 66061 or to the Olathe Hospice House, 15310 Marion St, Olathe, KS 66061.
