After a sudden and brief illness, Gerry went to be with the Lord on February 13, 2022, shortly after her 90th birthday.
Gerry was born in Denison, Texas to Leo and Hattie Manering. She was the third of three children, Charles, and Ann above her. While the family moved some, Denison was considered home where she attended most years of schooling.
Gerry attended Louisiana State University, then transferred to Bethany Nazarene University where she met Ed Holman. They married January 20, 1951 and were married 44 years.
Gerry had a beautiful soprano voice and began singing publicly at the age of fourteen. Singing solo, small groups, and choir was an important part of her life. Her home was often filled with people, whether Sunday dinner, Sunday night games, Sunday School parties, or family friends entertaining gave great pleasure to her and the many guests. Gerry was very active in the Nazarene church. From Cradle Roll to church board member, Prayer Chain to funeral dinners she served with passion, enthusiasm, and joy. In between church activities, entertaining and family Gerry operated a plethora of businesses through the years. When her feet hit the floor upon waking, they did not stop until she laid her head down at night.
Gerry is preceded in death by the love of her life, husband Ed Holman, two sons Bruce Holman and Jeff Holman.
Gerry is survived by her daughter Beth (Daniel) Brewer, daughter-in-law Liz (Mike) Simmons, grandchildren Jenna (Jeff) Gillaspie, Brent Holman, Charity Locke, Shiloh (Jacob) Markovich, Anna (Joe Collins) Holman, Jacob Nelson, Travis (Stacy Radecki) Nelson, Stephanie (Lyse) Bojanek, and great grandchildren Tyler Holman, Isabella, Aubrey, Jocelyn Gillaspie, Emma, Everest Derham, Donovan, Jade Markovich, Joey Collins, Carter, and Adaline Nelson.
Memorials are suggested to the Jesus Film Harvest Partners, 15055 W 116th St, Olathe, KS 66062.
