Gerald Max Ollenberger
Gerald Max Ollenberger was born June 30, 1943, to Ed
and Bessie Ollenberger at Shattuck, Oklahoma and departed this life February
7, 2008, at home in rural Paola, Kansas. Services will be 2 p.m., Monday,
February 11, 2008, with visitation at 1 p.m., at Penwell-Gabel Funeral
Home, 143rd & Black Bob, Olathe. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given
to Heart to Heart International, 401 S. Clairborne, Suite 302, Olathe Kan.,
66062, or Lighthouse Presbyterian Church, Box 404, Paola, Kan., 66071.Max
married Texanna Messner September 3, 1966, after his discharge from the
Army. To this union was born Jamie Anne and Keith Edward.Max and Texanna
moved to Olathe, in 1969, to teach school with Max teaching at both the
Kansas City, Kan., and Olathe Area Vocational Technical Schools. Max enjoyed
working with young people and sharing his talents of auto body collision
work and took pride in seeing an automobile restored.Max was a member of
College Church of the Nazarene for 30 years and joined the First
Presbyterian Church in Paola, Kan., when they moved from Olathe to their
farm in rural Miami County. Max suffered many health problems and the move
to the farm gave him freedom to enjoy life by having cattle, a shop to work
on cars and a place to enjoy nature.Those remembering the life of Max
include: many family members, colleagues, students and friends along with
his wife Texanna of the home; daughter, Jamie and husband Jay Powers; son,
Keith and wife Deanae; and he was PaPa to Anna Kay Powers and Madalynn Grace
Ollenberger.
