George L. Rogers, 81, Spring Hill, Ks. passed away February 22, 2009 at Kansas City Hospice House, Kansas City, Mo.
Born October 29, 1927, Ringo, Ks. he moved to Olathe, Ks. at age 5 where he resided until retirement, then moving to rural Johnson County.
He was a U.S. Navy World War II Veteran. Upon discharge was employed by the Navy Department. He was Comptroller at the Olathe Naval Air Station. When the Olathe Naval Air Station was decommissioned in 1970, he transferred to the U.S. Marine Corps Finance Center in Kansas City, Mo. as Budget Analyst where he retired after 30 years service.
George built our house in Olathe, enjoyed traveling, woodworking and servicing his lawn and garden equipment.
George is survived by his wife of 61 years, Shirley and son Richard, sister Judith Rogers, Gardner, Sandra Boltz, Columbia and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother Taylor Rogers and a sister Jadean Adams.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, February 25 at 1:00 p.m., followed by funeral services at 2:00 p.m., in the chapel of Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home 14275 S. Blackbob Rd., Olathe, Ks. Interment, Olathe Memorial Cemetery.
