On January 24, 2016 Gary Leon Stanton age 75, beloved husband of 55 years to Carlmetia "Carm" Stanton, precious Dad of Denise and Dawn, loving father in law to Randy and Scott and devoted Grampy of Brooke, Jillian, Brenna, and Quinlyn went to be with Jesus.
Gary was born to Pearl and Bennie Stanton on September 4, 1940 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He was preceded in death by his only sibling, brother Ronald L. Stanton (Ron). Gary served in the United States Air Force from August 1960 to January 1964. He married Carlmetia L Rose on April 1, 1961. The majority of his wonderful career was spent at Marion Laboratories from which he retired in 1991 at age 49. In retirement he completed the MHR Program at MidAmerica Nazarene University.
Gary loved baseball and continued to play until the age of 63. He was an avid Royals fan and delighted in two post season championships and one World Series win in the last two years of his battle with cancer. Most of all he was devoted to his family. Gary continued to care for his mother up until his death. He enjoyed many trips with his wife Carm and their friendship, love and commitment to one another lasted a lifetime. Gary worked hard to provide for his family and in his later years he forwent a "bucket list" to enjoy spending time with his children and grandchildren. Annual family trips to Colorado, holidays and family celebrations leave lasting memories.
Gary's greatest legacy is the fact that his entire immediate family knows The Lord Jesus Christ as their Savior. We rejoice in the fact that one day we will all be reunited to praise our Father in Heaven for all of eternity. 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18.
The family will receive guests for a visitation from 1:00 – 2:00pm at Penwell Gabel Funeral Home in Olathe, with a memorial service following at 2:00pm.
In lieu of flowers please make donations to Kansas City Hospice or to the Colonial Presbyterian Church Quivira Campus.
