Galen E. Horton, 71, of Overland Park, KS, passed away Thursday August 12, 2010 at home. He requested his body be donated to the University of Kansas Hospital willed body program. A memorial service will be held at a later date. The family suggests contributions to Grace Hospice.
Galen was born April 12, 1939 in Lawrence, KS to Jesse and Flora Horton. He attended Woodlawn Elementary School and Lawrence High School, before going to work for Stokely-VanCamp for 25 years. He later worked for the City of Ottawa for 11 years and then retired to Louisburg, KS. Galen and his wife had recently moved to Overland Park, KS.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and two sons Galen, Jr. and Thomas Robert.
He is survived by his wife of 37 years Sharon Horton of the home. Four daughters Gaylene (Leroy) Franklin, Sherry Worthington, Cynthia (Randy) Cheek and Julie (Chris) Russell. One son Jay (Lois) Ardahl. Two sisters Ouita Russell and Geneva (Larry) Tornaden. 10 grandchildren and 3 great grand children.
