Fred "Freddy" Joseph Cygan, son of Pamela Sue and Theodore Joseph Cygan Sr., was born March 27, 1969, in Kansas City, Kansas. Fred died peacefully February 1, 2024, at Olathe Hospice House in Olathe, KS with his family by his side due to complications from Cancer.
Born clubfooted, Fred overcame adversity at a very young age. Despite Dr's saying he would never walk; Fred went through many braces and surgeries to defy his odds. Fred would go on to learn how to not only walk but run and excel at sports. Fred grew up and attended grade school in Olathe, KS and Spring Hill, KS. Throughout his childhood and school years he excelled at numerous sports including Baseball, Basketball, and Football.
In Fred's early adulthood he fell in love with Michaela Ramsdell and went on to have four sons' together, Beau, Drew, Trey, and Kohl who were all his pride and joy. Fred spent his career in the telecommunications field as a self-contractor. A perfectionist in his craft, he always had the belief that your work shows your character. Fred enjoyed darts, foosball, music, fiddling a guitar and coming up with silly songs, spontaneous car trips, and testing his luck at the Casino. Most of all, he loved his family fiercely and cherished spending time with them. Within the last couple years of Fred's life, he earned his most proud title – OG Grandpa as he would call himself. His grandson Myles, or as Fred would say "my best friend", was such a light in his life and he couldn't wait to show him off to everyone no matter if they cared or not.
Fred was known for many things in his life. From being the life of the party wherever he went, positive attitude, athletic ability, contagious smile, to his loving personality. He exuded confidence on the outside but had a strong shy side as well. He had a way with words, always knowing exactly what to say, writing thoughtful and powerful messages to the ones he loved, and was the best storyteller. Fred always had a need for making sure the people around him were safe and taken care of no matter who it was. He was a man for the people, knowing no stranger.
Fred is survived by Theodore "Ted" Cygan Sr. (Father), Connie Ferreira (Sister), Theodore Cygan Jr, (Brother), Michaela "Shelly" Ramsdell (Significant Other), Beau Cygan (Son), Drew Cygan (Son), Trey Cygan (Son), Kohl Cygan (Son), Katie Cygan (Daughter-in-law), Shelby Baker (Daughter-in-law), Myles Cygan (Grandson), along with many nieces, nephews, friends and loved ones that meant the world to him.
