Franklin J. Hedrick, 82, of Olathe, KS passed away August 16, 2009 surrounded by the love of his family. Funeral Services will be 10 AM Wednesday, August 19 at Redeemer Lutheran Church, Olathe, KS. Friends may call from 5-8 PM Tuesday at the Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home, Olathe, KS. Burial will be 10 AM Thursday at Cedar Grove Cemetery Hays addition in Salem, MO. In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions to Redeemer Lutheran Church, or a church of your choice.
He was born January 17, 1927 on a farm in Lenox, MO to Franklin Lee and Audrey Ethel (Leonard) Hedrick. He graduated from Salem High School was drafted and served in the U.S. Army during WWII. He graduated from Brown Business College and worked for International Harvester Tractor Company. He was very active in his church and was devoted to his family. His passions were woodworking, gardening and tinkering.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 57 years Lorna M. Hedrick in March, 2009 as well as his parents.
He is survived by 1 Daughter Evelyn (Kenneth) Stremmel, 6 Sons Franklin D. (Sandra), M. Paul, Samuel J. (Lisa), Philip N., Stephen J., and Karl A. (Heather) Hedrick, and Gods precious gifts of 12 grandchildren and 5 ½ great grandchildren. His in-law's included Martin D. (Earlene) Wegener, Sandra D. (Riley) Voss, Delano P. (Esther) Wegener, and Mary Ann (Guebert) Wegener. He had many nieces, nephews, cousins, and loving friends.
