Frank Nied

Frank J. Nied passed away on August 9th at St. Joseph's Medical Center. Born in Chicago, IL, on September 7, 1915, he moved to the Kansas City area in 1952, then eventually lived in New York, Connecticut, and Florida before returning to the area in 2001. An accountant by trade in the grain industry, he worked for Standard Milling Co. in Kansas City and Louis Dreyfus on the East coast. He served our country in the U.S. Army during World War II in North Africa, Sicily, and Italy.

He was preceded in death by brother Joseph Nied, sister Anne Eme, and son Thomas Nied. He is survived by Christine E. Nied, his wife of sixty-two years, sister Bernice Nied, son Kenneth Nied, daughters-in-law Cynthia and Virginia Nied, grandchildren Paul Nied, Pam Smith, Renee Stevens, Megan Mitchell, and great-grandchildren Gus Mitchell, Brady Smith, Jack Mitchell, and Ainsley Stevens. One of his final expressions was, "I have a great family!" The family has now lost its patriarch.

A private service will be held for immediate family members only. The family requests that no flowers be sent and instead recommends donations to the American Cancer Society.
