Frank Graham Layne, Sr., 89, passed away peacefully at his long-time home in Overland Park on Thursday, Nov. 3, 2016. In keeping with Frank's wishes, no funeral services will be held. Interment will be in Bonner Springs Cemetery.
The youngest son of the late Dr. John W. Layne & Elizabeth Austin Layne, Frank attended Eldon (Mo.) High School before joining his three older brothers in the military during World War II.
After honorable discharge from the Navy as an electrician's mate, Frank came to Kansas City & later Lenexa where he married the late Dorothy Emery & raised their two children. He married the late Patricia Deming & lived in Overland Park the remainder of his life.
A gifted woodworker in retirement, Frank produced beautiful furniture in his home shop & freely shared his skills with other KC Woodworking Guild members & happily mentored numerous friends.
Frank is survived by two children: Julia Layne of the home; and Frank Layne, Jr. of Olathe. Also surviving him are Patricia's three children & grandchildren as well as numerous nieces & nephews.
