Frank "Dan" Flack 82, of Olathe, KS passed away Tuesday June 23, 2009 at Olathe Medical Center. Funeral Services will be 10 AM Friday June 26, at the Olathe Brethren Church 501 W Elm St Olathe, KS. Burial in Oaklawn Cemetery. Friends may call from 6-8PM Thursday at the Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home, Olathe, KS. The family suggests contributions to the church.
He was born August 18, 1926 in Leavenworth, KS to Fay Sylvia (Magner) and William Huber Flack. The day after his 17th birthday he joined the Navy and was on the USS Missouri when the Japanese signed the surrender treaty and spent most of his time serving on the USS Copahee, USS Fabius, and the USS Cimarron. He was stationed in Guam before being honorably discharged July 18th, 1947. He was a meat cutter at Kroger's and Constantinos Price Chopper for 40 years before retiring in 1989, and enjoyed his last few years with his friends and family at Cedar Lake Village.
He was preceded in death by his wife Helen (Redinger) (Hawley) Flack in 2006.
He is survived by 3 sons David, Gary and Wife Tracey, Keith and wife Cheryl Flack all of Olathe, KS. 3 step sons Charles Jr. Hawley and wife Vicki of Kansas City, MO, Dwaine Hawley of Ensenada, Mexico, and Dennis Hawley and wife Janice of Dubuque, IA. Ex-wife Betty Flack of Olathe, KS. Sister Faye Ann Leach of Merritt Island, FL and brother Leonard M. Flack and wife Zora of Phoenix, AZ. Grandchildren Gabrielle Kile, Jacque Cardona, Joseph, Anthony and Matthew Flack. Rick Hawley, Cindy Grover, Amber Hawley, Heather Conrad, Theron, Aletha and Nathan Hawley and 6 great grandchildren.
Dan will be greatly missed by all that knew and loved him, for his humorous stories and quick wit.
