FRANCIS VINCENT GEORGE
Francis Vincent George "Vince", 94, Olathe, Kansas, passed away Sunday, January 10, 2010 at Kansas City Hospice House. The family suggests contributions to St. Paul's Catholic Church, Kansas City Hospice House, and/or American Stroke Foundation.
Vince was born in Walnut, Kansas March 31, 1915 to John and Frances George and has lived in Olathe since 1965. He married Doretha Deemy in 1942 in Iola, Kansas, who preceded him in death in 1984. He retired from Sunflower (formerly Hercules) Ammunition Plant. He then went to work for Mid-Continent Psychiatric Hospital in Olathe until he retired. Nine years later he married Fern Brown who also preceded him in death in 1999.
He was a member of St. Paul's Catholic Church. Vince enjoyed ballroom dancing, where he met Elsie Jennings, his favorite and final dancing partner. He leaves behind many friends at Aberdeen Village, where he resided. His hobbies included gardening, fishing, hunting, and storytelling.
He was also preceded in death by a daughter; Mary Jo George, sisters; Margaret Baine and Jennie Gower, and brothers; Joe George, Phillip George, and Chris George, Sr.
He is survived by his children; Phyllis (George) Brittingham, Louise (Matt) Gladbach, Carol (Cole) Phillips, Barbara Randall, Alice George, and Frank (Desiree) George, grandchildren; Brian, Scott, Sara, Jake, Stephanie, Todd, Andrea, Ariana, Jason, Emily, Rachelle, Amanda, and Kyle, 19 great-grandchildren, one great-great grandson, and his sister, Esther Fox.
