Frances Turner was born on July 2, 1920, to Mary (Kreusch) and Frank Mages near Ottawa, Kansas. She attended elementary school in a rural school near Ottawa and graduated from Ottawa High School in 1937. She then went to Emporia State Teacher's College and received a certificate to teach in elementary school in Kansas. For eight years, she taught in rural schools in Franklin and Douglas counties. On February 6, 1943, she married Roland Turner at St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Homewood, KS. They lived on a farm near Ottawa. In 1950, they purchased a farm near Overbrook, KS and raised six children together. Frances lived on the farm until 1998. For 14 years she was a secretary for Overbrook elementary school. In 1998, she went to live at Grand Court in Overland Park.
She was preceded in death by Roland Turner in 1986 and daughter Rita Hahn in 2003. Surviving are three daughters, Reba Miller, Linda Kruzic, and Rollene Croucher, and two sons, Ed Turner, and Jerry Turner, 14 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. She is also survived by a sister, Bonita Welborn, and a brother, Eugene Mages. Faith and family were very important to Frances and she also enjoyed her card clubs, traveling, and the many friends she made throughout her life!
