Frances Marie Smith James, age 85, died in peace on January 10, 2015, while under hospice care fighting Alzheimer's disease. Though her suffering and courageous battle will one day be only a distant memory, the love and kindness of her gentle, unselfish life will long be remembered by all who knew her.
The only child of Methodist minister, Rev. J. Roy Smith and mother Frances Selma Smith, was born in Leslie, MO. She graduated from Central Missouri State College in 1951 with a degree in education.
She is survived by her husband, Carl R. James; sons David and wife MaryAnn of Baltimore, MD, and their son Jordan of New York City, Donald and wife Lorinda, and their children Nicolas and Anna of Overland Park, KS. Also surviving is sister-in-law Naomi of Kansas City, MO.
Visitation at 9:30 am, followed with a memorial service at 10:00 am on Saturday, January 31 at the Keystone Methodist Church (formerly Broadway United Methodist Church), 74th and Wornall Road. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Keystone Methodist Church or Alzheimer's Association.
