Frances Ann Becker, 93, of Overland Park, Kansas, formerly of Greeley, Colorado, and Ripon, Wisconsin, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, August 20, 2020. She was born on August 2, 1927, in Fort Collins, Colorado, to Arthur and Helen Forbes.
Fran graduated from Greeley High School in 1946. She asked Jesus into her heart as her Lord and Savior as a young adult. She attended Trinity College in Deerfield, Illinois, and then nursing school in Chicago. While working as a nurse, a friend set her up on a blind date with Lawrence Becker, whom she later married in Park Ridge, Illinois, on June 8, 1963. The couple lived in Lead, South Dakota, where their first son, Jeffrey Arthur, was born in 1964. They relocated to Ripon, Wisconsin, where their second son, Jonathan Bruce, was born in 1967. After her boys entered school, Fran worked in the medical records department at Ripon Memorial Hospital and later was the assistant to the hospital administrator when she retired in 1993. Following retirement, Fran & Larry spent 13 winters in Arizona, near Fran's younger sister, Pat Ingalls. While in Arizona, Fran enjoyed classes in oil painting and pottery. In 1996, Fran & Larry moved to Greeley, Colorado, where they enjoyed retirement until moving to Overland Park, Kansas, in February, 2017, to be closer to their son and daughter-in-law, Jon and Mary.
Fran was closely involved in Precept ministry bible studies, Stonecroft, and together with Larry, were leaders in the local Christian couples club. Fran was an active member of the Ripon Baptist Church, and later Trinity Evangelical Free Church in Ripon, Wisconsin. When they moved to Greeley, they enjoyed many vibrant years of fellowship at Cornerstone Community Church. Fran and Larry shared a mutual love of music and traveled to Europe several times to sing with different musical groups. Fran was part of a large family which was very important to her. She loved playing cards and Dominoes, and opening her home to friends and family who enjoyed being together.
After her Savior, Fran's greatest love was for her husband, Larry. They were married 57 years. One often could not tell where the one ended and the other began. "Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. Love never fails." 1 Corinthians 13:7-8. Their mutual love for God and for one another carried them through. Fran found her hope in God which gave her a deep abiding joy that blessed those around her.
Fran was preceded in death by her parents Arthur & Helen Griffin, 6 brothers, 5 sisters, and 1 half-brother.
Surviving are her husband, Lawrence, of Overland Park, KS; sons, Jeff Becker (Rebecca) of Lexington, SC, and Jon Becker (Mary) of Olathe, KS; 4 beloved grandchildren, JJ Becker, Anna Pollitt (Adam), Ella Rose Becker, and Ava Joy Becker; one great-grandson, Owen Pollitt, and one sister, Helen Stephanson, of Columbus, OH.
There will be a visitation on Saturday, August 29 at Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home, Olathe Chapel, followed by a memorial service at 11:00 AM. Fran's family invites you to join us in celebrating her beautiful life.
