Evelyn Walters

Evelyn E. Walters, 92, passed away at the home of her daughter; Debby Dane in Olathe, May 11, 2005. In lieu of flowers the family requests contributions to Hospice of Olathe Medical Center.

Evelyn was born, February 11, 1913 in Coates, KS. She was the fourth of seven children born to Glen and Edith Doolittle. She attended school in Missouri and Iowa.

Evelyn moved to Olathe in 1939 and married Harley E. Walters in 1940. When Harley died in 1960 she continued to live in the family home at 452 S. Chestnut, Olathe, and raised their three younger children alone. She resided there a total of fifty-five years.

She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star Anchor Chapter #3, and the Earl Collier Post #153 of the American Legion Women's Auxiliary in Olathe. She attended Grace (formerly First United Methodist Church) for many years.

Evelyn was a devoted mother and grandmother. She was a kind, loving and generous person who will be greatly missed by all of her family and friends who returned her love.

She is preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, and a grandson.

Evelyn is survived by sons; Barry Walters, Marysville, CA., Daryl Walters, Salmon, ID, daughters; Barbara Sandberg and husband Richard, Paola, KS, Debby Dane and husband Don, Olathe, KS; sisters; Rowena Hagan and husband Raymond, Princeton, MO, Doris Krout and husband Harry, Spring Hill, KS, brother; Roe Doolittle, Raytown, MO, seven grandchildren, five step-grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and eleven step-great-grandchildren.
