Eugene Ray Ledgerwood, 61 of Olathe, Kansas passed away on Tuesday December 6, 2022. He was born on June 6, 1961 in Kansas City, Kansas to Robert and Nelma (Kenslow) Ledgerwood.
Gene grew up in Mission, Kansas and graduated from Shawnee Mission North High School in 1979. Gene met the love of his life, Amy at "The Lonestar" in Westport on December 13th 1985 when he asked her to dance. Gene and Amy married on June 17th 1989 in St. Louis, Missouri, Amy's hometown. Gene and Amy had two sons, Kyle and Derek whom he loved very much and made him very proud. Gene served the citizens of Northeast Johnson County for 32 years as a Firefighter, F.A.O, Lieutenant, and Captain with Consolidated Fire District #2. In his spare time Gene enjoyed working on his 1969 Chevelle, working on constructing his shop down on his land, and more than anything he loved just spending time with his tight knit family.
Gene is survived by his loving wife Amy, sons Kyle and Derek, daughter in laws, Lisa and Haley, brother Rick, sister Cheryl Craft, and his beloved grandkids Tatum, Tucker, Mylah, and Barrett & many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Gene was preceded in death by his mother and father.
A memorial service will be held at 5:00pm on Tuesday, December 13, 2022, at Heritage Church, 15550 S. Lackman Road, Olathe, Kansas 66062, with a visitation following until 8:00pm.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations in Gene's memory be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital.
