EUGENE "GENE" F. KIRWIN

Age 69, passed away January 6, 2008, at his home surrounded by his family, after a short, but courageous battle with lung cancer. Visitation, Wednesday, January 9 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home, 14275 S. Blackbob Rd. , Olathe, with Recitation of the Rosary at 7:30p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow on Thursday, January 10 at 10:30 a.m. at Prince of Peace Catholic Church, 16000 W. 143rd Street, Olathe, KS. Entombment, Johnson County Memorial Gardens, Overland Park, KS. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests remembrances to Hospice of Olathe Medical Center, 20333 W. 151st Street, Ste. 301, Olathe, KS 66061 or to the American Cancer Society, 6700 Antioch Rd., Merriam, KS 66204.

Gene was born in Ottumwa, Iowa on December 15, 1938 to Charles and Cecilia Kirwin. He graduated from Walsh High School in 1957, and then attended the University of Iowa and St. Ambrose College, receiving his business degree from Iowa Success Business School in Ottumwa. He was a former partner with Professional Management Midwest, and went on to establish his own company, Practice Management, LLC in 1998. In addition to operating his own business, he was also active as a realtor in the Johnson County area.

He married Brenda Mangerson on June 10, 1961 in Ottumwa, Iowa. After a brief time in Tulsa, Ok, they settled their family in the Johnson County area in 1976.

Gene was a member and past Director of PMCA, and was a lifetime member of the NAHC.

He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Brenda, his sons Mark (Christi) Kirwin, and Brad (Paula) Kirwin, his grandchildren; Kelsi, Jessi, Kailee, and Shelby. He is also survived by his sister, Dorothy O'Laughlin, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, and one brother, Charles J. Kirwin.
