Ernest C. Wolf, 82, of Gardner, passed away on February 1,2024 at Hospice House in Olathe, Kansas.
He was born on May 29, 1941 to John and Jessie (Joy) Wolf in rural Smith County, Kansas at the family home, commonly known as Sam's Place. He was raised in Norton, Kansas. After graduating from Norton Community High School, Ernie moved to Salina, Kansas and attended Brown Mackie Business School.
On October 16, 1966, he married Valette (Schukman) Wolf. Ernie worked in the Kansas grain trade industry (Lynch Grain Company and White Cloud Grain Company) for his entire career and retired to Gardner, Kansas in 2005.
Ernie served in the Army Reserves for six years. He was a gifted Bible teacher and taught Sunday School for over 40 years. He served as an elder in all the churches he attended. Ernie served in the Gideon ministry for over 50 years.
Ernie was known as a loving husband, father, and grandfather who enjoyed gardening, antiques, and bragging about his grandsons. Most of all he loved God and his family.
Ernie is survived by his loving wife, Val; son, Michael Wolf; daughter Lisa (Mike) Tholen and grandsons, Jake Tholen, Luke (Emily) Tholen, and Nick (Ally) Tholen.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Jessie Wolf; brother, Russell (Marilyn) Wolf; sister, Nancy Bonowitz, and sister-in-law, Karen Wolf.
Graveside services will be held on Saturday, February 17, 2024 1:00 pm, at the Fairview Cemetery, Smith Center, Kansas, with Dennis Lambert, officiating. A Memorial Service will also be held at Olathe Christian Church on Saturday, February 24, 2024 at 9:30am, with Paul Halstead officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to Hospice House in Olathe, Kansas or Gideons International.
