Ernest Dale "Ernie" Barnes, 85, of Overland Park, KS, passed away on January 9th, 2017 with his family by his side. Ernie was born on March 9th, 1931 in Hutchinson, KS to Edward and Ethel Barnes. He graduated from Hutchinson High School and attended Hutchinson Community College.
On January 7th, 1951 he married Barbara Wilson. Together they raised two daughters, Debra and Cathy. He was a businessman who worked in sales, and he retired as a plant manager of Humphrey Window Products.
He loved playing golf with friends and traveling with his family. He took his family on many road trips over the years that have left us with wonderful memories.
He was proud of his family and loved celebrating birthdays and holidays with them. He enjoyed visiting with others and sharing stories of his childhood and life.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Ethel Barnes and brothers, Rodney and Don Barnes.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara; sisters, Letha Noblitt and Joyce McCoy; daughter, Debra Theede; daughter, Cathy Herbison and husband John; grandchildren, Cara Ramirez and husband Ian, Clayton Herbison and wife Angela, Ashley Hurst and husband Jay, and Nicholas Theede; great-grandchildren, Evie, Quinn, Parker, Julian, Jacob, and Maddox.
Ernie made friends easily and never knew a stranger. He will be greatly missed, and his life and memory will live on through his family who loved him dearly.
