Erma Misemer

April 18, 1920 — June 4, 2016

Erma Mae Misemer, 96, of Olathe, Kansas passed away June 4, 2016 at the home of her daughter, Joyce Misemer Terrill in Auburn, Kansas. As a faithful servant of Jesus Christ, she is now at peace and receiving her blessings and rewards from the Lord.

Erma was born April 18, 1920, in Gridley, Kansas to Everett and Sophia Sauder Elrod. She was a one of the first members of Shawnee Church of the Nazarene with its beginning in the early 1960's. She was active in all church functions with particular emphasis on assisting the Nazarene Missions International and Outreach programs. She also served as District President of the Nazarene Missions International for several years. Her Shawnee home was always open to missionaries who needed a base before or after their foreign assignments. Known for her wonderful meals, Cal and Erma's home was on the top list of missionaries' stop-overs. As a homemaker, she was a constant companion to her husband and a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother, never leaving a task undone, or a child's problem or feelings unattended. In her later years she attended College Church of the Nazarene while living independently in her home in Olathe, close to family. Erma loved her independence. Until last year she could be seen driving her Crown Vic to the store or to church in Olathe. Not afraid to try new things, her great grandchildren delighted in seeing her "punching" her new ipad, as if trying to force out the messages. She never lost her sense of humor, and her laughter and zeal for life will be deeply missed.

She is survived by sons; Norris G. and (Susanne) Misemer of Pilot Point, TX; Kent A. and (Cathy) Misemer of Leawood, KS; Rick S. and (Connie) Misemer of Olathe, KS; daughter; Joyce E. and (Rick) Terrill of Auburn, KS; five sisters; Velma Goodrum, Helen Bailey, Betty Runion, Ruth Human, Rachel Elrod; three sister-in-laws; Edie Elrod , Polly (Bea) Elrod and Georgia Maxine Misemer; eight grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren. Erma was preceded in death by her husband, Calvin E. Misemer, three brothers; Harvey Elrod, Glen Elrod, Howard Elrod, one sister, Vera Elrod, and one great grandchild, Samuel B. Misemer.

A funeral service will be held at College Church of the Nazarene, 2020 E. Sheridan St., Olathe, KS on June 8, 2016 at 2:00 pm Visitation will be at the church 12:30-2:00 pm.
