Emma Leigh Lengquist, 20, of Olathe, passed away on February 16, 2018. She was born on September 8, 1997 in Tulsa, OK.
Emma was born ten weeks early at two pounds, 15 ounces at Tulsa, Oklahoma's Hillcrest Regional Hospital. Chris and Marie Lengquist formally adopted Emma August 20, 2003. She had a great spirit, electric smile and was a great lover of song and dance.
Emma cared deeply about others and was always sensitive to the needs of other people. She also had a love and passion for dogs that is unsurpassed. Emma partook in Special Olympics basketball and loved the game. Emma was also a charter member of Inclusion Connections and PawsAbilities. Emma loved the mission of IC and PawsAbilities and she loved the work she did there. She knew she was making a difference for dogs, and that gratified her deeply.
Emma is survived by her loving parents, Chris and Marie Lengquist; her siblings, Jacob (Makena), Brandon and Piper Lengquist, Alisha McDonald (Brock), Amanda Hendricks and Aaron Campbell; her maternal grandparents, Larry and Pat McCann; her paternal grandparents, Doug and Lynda Lengquist; many aunts, uncles, cousins, a niece and nephew.
She was preceded in death by her biological mother, Peggy Campbell; her paternal grandma, Marjorie Lengquist.
The family will receive friends for a visitation from 6:00-8:00pm on Thursday, February 22, 2018, at Penwell Gabel's Olathe chapel. Funeral services will be held at 10:00am on Friday, also at the funeral home followed by her interment at Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens in Olathe.
