Ellen Holl

Ellen Marie (Adkins) Holl, age 77, passed away peacefully and quietly surrounded by her husband John Holl, sister Linda Powell and nieces Jill Carroll, Joyce Eilerman and Julie Howard on August 20, 2013 at Olathe Medical Center. She fought a two-month battle from complications after having lung surgery in June.
Ellen was born to Bessie D. and William W. Adkins on February 9th, 1936 in Kansas City, Kansas.
She grew up and lived in the Kansas City, Overland Park and Olathe, Kansas areas.
In 1954, she graduated from Shawnee Mission High School. She began her career in accounting at Nationwide Finance, Metcalf Bank and retired at the age of 70 after more than 30 years of service at Webb Electronics. She also taught accounting at Johnson County Community College, and served as President of the Republican Women's Club of Overland Park.
Ellen is survived by her husband John Holl of the home, a sister Linda Powell, brothers Walter Adkins and William Adkins, surviving stepchildren Mark Holl, Patrick Holl, and Kathleen Holl, 4 step-grandchildren and 3 great step-grandchildren. She also leaves behind 19 nieces and nephews and several great and great-great nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a brother Calvin Wesselman, stepchildren Debra Smithers and Karen Vinyard.
