Ella Heflin

Ella Marie Heflin of Olathe, Kansas passed away July 28th, 2014. She was a loving wife, mother and devoted sister.

She was born in Neosho Missouri, May 21st, 1927 to Raymond Zehr and Emma Tuggle Zehr. She attended and graduated from the Pittsburg Kansas schools. Her first job after high school was as a hotel elevator operator at the Bess Hotel in Pittsburg. She moved to Kansas City Missouri in 1951 and was employed at National Bell Hess in North Kansas City. She met and eventually married Claude W. Heflin who worked at the Post Office across the street on March 22nd, 1958. They later moved to Olathe Kansas in 1976.

She was such a caring person and spent many years as the family care giver for her father in law and both of her parents until they preceded her in death.
She leaves behind her husband Claude W. Heflin of the home, her son Scott Heflin of Olathe and a step daughter Claudine Mesecher, husband Robert of Des Moines, Iowa; 2 step grandsons and 4 great step grandchildren.

Out of a family of 8 she leaves one surviving sister, Ruth Menghini of Girard Kansas.

She was preceded in death by her parents and three brothers; Harold Zehr of Pittsburg, Kansas, Raymond Zehr of Blue Eye, Missouri, Lee Zehr of Nevada, Missouri, and three sisters; Ethel Mae Graves of Kansas City, Missouri, Emma Florene Marquis of Silver City, New Mexico and Lorene Hermon of San Jose, California and several special nieces and nephews.
