Eldon Eugene Crenshaw, age 90, passed away in his home in Olathe, KS on July 13, 2024. He was born in Anthony, KS on October 22, 1933. He graduated from Attica High School then attended Wichita State University, graduated from cosmetology school and also furthered his education at Baker University. He owned and operated successful beauty salons for 20 years in Ottawa, including locations in Baldwin City and Wellsville. Always an entrepreneur, he brought a Daylight Donut franchise to Ottawa which he owned for 12 years until retirement.
After giving his heart to Christ as a teenager, Eldon remained deeply committed to his faith and serving in his church. After retiring, he dedicated himself to volunteer work. He donated his time and special gifts to hospice patients, cancer patients, Meals on Wheels, Hope House and as a mentor to young at-risk boys through ECKAN. His servant heart has been passed on to his children and grandchildren.
Eldon made sure his family had many memorable experiences through camping trips, vacations and many other adventures. Sherrel gifted Eldon a custom motorcycle for his 60th birthday. At age 60, he traveled on this motorcycle from coast to coast and from Canada to Mexico.
Eldon is survived by his wife, Sherrel. They enjoyed 63 years of marriage together. He is also survived by their sons Brad and wife Susie Crenshaw of Daphne, AL; Scott and wife Renee Crenshaw of Lincoln, KS; Todd and wife Cynthia Crenshaw of Durham, NC; and daughter Krista Skoog and husband, Otto, of Olathe, KS. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Archie and Christina Crenshaw and six siblings.
Visitation will take place on Thursday, July 25 at Countryside Church, 14150 W. 175th Street, Overland Park, from 10:00am-11:00am, with a Celebration of Eldon's life immediately following the visitation. Burial services will be private for immediate family.
Memorial contributions may be given to Countryside Church dedicated to the youth department.
