Edward Kennedy Cameron

October 12, 1934 — December 25, 2022

Edward Kennedy Cameron "Ken", 88, of Lenexa, Kansas, passed away on December 25, 2022. His beloved wife, Edna, of 64 years was by his side.

Ken was born October 12, 1934, in Leavenworth, Kansas and moved to the Kansas City area with his parents and sister where he attended Good Counsel Catholic Grade School. He graduated from De La Salle Military Academy, class of 1952. Ken attended Donnelly College, class of 1960. He served in the United States Naval Reserves until 1983, retiring as a Chief Petty Officer. Ken worked for the U.S. Postal Service, retiring after 30 years of service in 1995. Ken was also a member of the Olathe chapter of Knights of Columbus.

Ken met Edna at the Redemptorist Social Club in 1956, fell in love and married in October of 1958. They welcomed seven redheads to carry on his quick wit and loving personality. You could often hear Ken say, "There's nothing better looking than a good-looking redhead".

In his retirement years, Ken filled his time with many hobbies including woodworking, his Christmas Tree Farm, estate sales, traveling, and spending time with his wife and family. In recent times, he enjoyed his weekly coffee sessions with friends made over the years and monthly lunches with his Navy and Postal Service friends.

Ken is survived by his wife Edna Cameron; children Laura McGinnis, Kelly (Bill) Franke, Susan (Jeff) McCullough, Colleen (Brian) Davis, Michael (Stephanie) Cameron, Mark Cameron, and Maureen (Mike Allen) Cameron; his grandchildren Michael McGinnis, Parker McGinnis, Claire Franke, Mark (Alyssa) Franke, Carter (Noam) Rose, Brittny (Jason) England, Kylee (Clay) Lambert, Riley Davis, Preston Davis, Stevi Cameron, and Davis Cameron; his great-grandchildren Nolan Franke, Sadie Franke, Cyrus England and Ruthie England; and countless other loved ones.

Ken was preceded in death by his father Elmer Edward Cameron, mother Claire Kennedy Cameron, and sister Carolyn (Herbert) Meagher, son-in-law Michael McGinnis and many other extended family members.

Ken believed wholeheartedly, "We are one lucky family."
