EDMOND "ED" EUGENE YOUNG
Edmond "Ed" Eugene Young, age 75, passed away April 26, 2011, in Olathe, KS. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the National Kidney Foundation of Kansas and Western Missouri, 1900 W. 47th Place, #310, Westwood, KS 66205 or to Autism Society of the Heartland,PO Box 860984, Shawnee, KS 66286-0984.
Ed was born January 19, 1936, in Kenneth, KS, to Buford and Louise Young. He graduated from Stanley High School in 1953, and went on to graduate from Kansas State University in 1957 with a degree in Civil Engineering.
Ed married Shirley Stout on July 7, 1957, and together they made their home in the Stanley area.
He retired in 2005 from Payne and Brockway Engineers after owning and operating the company for 48 years. Ed served on the Stanley School Board for four years, and went on to help establish the Blue Valley School District in the late 1960s, and served as a founding member of the Blue Valley District School Board.
Ed enjoyed spending time with his family and close friends, and attending the Kansas City Chiefs and Kansas City Royals games. While his own children were growing up, he enjoyed coaching Girls Softball and taught Sunday School in the Stanley Community Church.
Surviving are his wife of 54 years, Shirley Young, his children Karen (Tim) Martley, Tracy Hadel, and Dr. Mike Young, grandchildren T.J. Martley, Joseph Hadel, Angela Hadel, and Edward Hadel, and his brother Leroy (Nancy) Young. He was preceded in death by his parents, and his grand-daughter, Elizabeth Hadel.
