Eddie Wentzel

October 13, 1931 — June 5, 2014

Eddie was born October 13, 1931 to George Henry and Julia Wentzel. He was the youngest of 13 children.

In 1950 he joined the US Navy and served proudly for 20 years. Most of this time was spent on destroyers (tin cans) such as the Anderson, Morton and DeHaven. During this time he served honorably in both Korea and Vietnam.

In 1957 while stationed in Italy he married Anna (Nancy) Maloney at St. Peter's in Rome on June 1st.

In April of 1959 his first son Eamon was born in New Orleans.

Eddie was soon transferred again, this time to Australia where he adopted his three other children; Shawn Joseph, Maureen and Kathleen.

Following his career in the Navy, he went on to work for the water department for various cities in California. Finally retiring due to ill health.

In September, 1989 Eddie was widowed when Nancy fell asleep in the Lord. He then turned to his hobbies of glass and wood working as well as returning to college.

In 2005 he moved from California to Olathe, KS to be with his son and grandchildren, where he enriched their lives until his passing on June 5, 2014.

Eddie is survived by his children and grandchildren; Eamon married to Janice with their son Dominic, Shawn Joseph married to Tatyana with their two sons Anthony and Alexander, Maureen is married to John with their son Dublin, and Kathleen.
