Eddie Mares

Eddie Mares, age 93 of Olathe, KS died June 27th of 2023. The son of Vaclav "James" and Anna (Libal) Mares. He was born on Jan. 18, 1930, in Luray, KS. Eddie grew up and attended school in Luray, graduating with the class of 1947. Not long after Eddie served in the U.S. Army Signal Corp in Germany & France during the Korean War and was a member of the Veterans of Foreign War.
He was united in marriage to Loretta Jane Gnad on October 25, 1958, in Ellis, KS. Earlier in 1948 at the United Telephone Co at Russell, KS. Eddie began his career. He was assigned to the Head Quarters Offices in Kansas City, MO. Later known as Sprint joining local and long distance telephone services. There were many new milestones over the years, changing from the old magneto crank type telephones to rotary dial. Newer designed central office
equipment was developed over the years with touch tone push button telephones. After 49 years of service Eddie retired in 1997.
His parents proceeded him in death, and also brothers James Mares, Beach Park, IL. - Fred Mares (Louise) Boise, ID. - Adolph Mares (Ann) Guymon, OK. and sister Adeline Stafford Lakewood, CO.
Survivors include his wife Loretta Mares and daughter Audrey (Jason) Richmond of Mesquite NV. and son Dean Mares of Nashville, TN.
