Eber L. Copeland passed away peacefully in his Olathe, Kansas home Friday, April 18, 2008.
Eber was born in Galveston, Texas to the Rev. Eber and Mary Copeland December 4, 1926. He moved to southern California at a very early age where he lived most of his life. Shortly after graduating from Coachella Valley Union High School in 1944, Eber joined the U.S. Navy and was a Signalman during World War II serving mainly in the South Pacific. He attended the University of Southern California and on August 20, 1956 he married the love of his life, Jo Elizabeth Ransbarger in Indio, California. Eber and Jo were blessed with five children, twelve grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Eber had a wonderful forty-year career with Bank of America.
In 1993 Eber and Jo moved to Olathe, Kansas where he began a fourteen year career working at Olathe East High School. He very much loved the students and staff of Olathe East. They were a source of tremendous joy for him.
Eber was preceded in death by his wife, Jo, son, Paul and sisters Moline Behrens and Gatha Lange. He is survived by his brother Paul of Lake Havasu City, Arizona; daughters Virginia Morgan of Healdsburg, California; Peggy Baldwin of Maui, Hawaii; Sarah Draper and son Michael Copeland both of Olathe, Kansas.
Eber was a wonderful, kind, gentle and caring man. He was a good friend to all and loved by all. He accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior at a young age. Eber served our Lord through the Church of the Nazarene in various capacities throughout his life. He will be greatly missed, but his family is comforted knowing he is rejoicing in heaven with His Savior, wife and son.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contributions to the Paul Copeland Children Memorial Fund; 706 North Lindenwood Drive, Olathe, Kansas 66062.
