Dustin Lee Elliott, born Feb. 19, 1980, died unexpectedly and tragically April 14, 2019.
He was passionate about serving his church and community. He served as a deacon for many years at Park Woods Presbyterian Church, and he spent his career working tirelessly as a civil engineer, helping design bridges and roadways.
He's survived by his beloved wife of 12 years, Alyvia, his one and only love since they were teenagers, and three children (Henry, 10, Amelie, 9, and Theodore, 4). He's also survived by his father George Martin Elliott, stepmother Patricia, mother Kathryn Flaherty, stepfather Paul Flaherty, twin brother Drew Elliott and sister Melissa Graham (James), stepbrothers Kevin Flaherty (Whitney) and Michael Flaherty, and many nieces and nephews whom he loved as his own.
He is preceded in death by his sister Wendy Marie, brother George Travis, and daughter Claudette Elyse, and twin daughters whom he's surely rejoicing with in heaven. He's also preceded in death by his grandparents, his aunt Barbara Dunlap, uncle Kenny Dunlap, uncle Jerry Staley, and his mother-in-law Claudette Wright.
To know Dustin is to love Dustin. He was honest, kind, and thoughtful. He was always late, and it was often joked he would be late to his own funeral. He was meticulous and painted the entire family home with one single paintbrush because he knew he could and nothing else would do. It just took him eight years to complete it, though he would say it took him a summer. He loved barbeque and researched for years for the perfect smoker. After five-plus years of saving, he finally purchased his smoker. Although it was only used three times, it produced the best barbeque KC has to offer.
But no amount of words however eloquent or accurate, can sum up Dustin. He was quiet, passionate, stubborn, and extremely thoughtful. But more than anything he was loving.
He showed loved that can only point to the love that Christ has for us. We hang tight to Gods promise that we will see him again. While it may seem like an eternity (after all, we are always waiting on Dustin), we that have hope in Christ will be reunited with him.
In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the Dustin Elliot Memorial Fund, which will benefit his children's futures. Please make checks payable to Alyvia Elliott.
