Dr. William G. Novotny

William “Bill” Gaynor Novotny, aged 91, passed away on January 12, 2025, at his home in Overland Park, KS. He was a beloved father, husband, and friend who will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Bill was born on February 26, 1933, in Plainville, KS to Rudolf and Violet Novotny. His parents moved the family to Hoisington, KS when Bill was in grade school and lived there through his high school graduation in 1951. Bill went on to attend Dentistry School at University of Missouri – Kansas City, graduating in 1958. He started his own practice in Hill City, Kansas in 1958 where he met his future wife, Patricia “Pat” Corbin. Bill and Pat were married on August 15, 1959. They stayed in Hill City for 10 years, then moved to Russell, KS in 1968 where Bill went into practice with Dr. BL Schulz before later opening his own practice. After practicing Dentistry for over 35 years, he retired in 1996, when he and Pat moved to Zephyrhills, FL. They returned to the Kansas City area in 2018 to be closer to family. He was known for his hard work, dedication, and passion for helping others.

But more than anything, Bill was a devoted father. In his free time, Bill loved skiing, archery, and was an avid remote control pilot.

 Bill is survived by his loving wife, Pat; children, Ramona Schwartz, Gayne Morris, and Corbin (Rebecca) Novotny; daughter-in-law Maxine Novotny; sisters, Delores Morton and Sharon Lovesee; and 11 grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Rudolf and Violet Novotny; brother, EJ Novotny; sister, Roberta Hairfield; and son, Todd Novotny.

The family would like to thank the staff and caregivers at Phoenix Home Care and Hospice and Angels of Care for their care and compassion. There will be no services according to Bill’s request, but the family will schedule a Celebration of Life at a later date.
