Dr. Santosh Kumar Reddy, of Olathe, passed away on December 6, 2018 at Olathe Medical Center.
He was born on May 6 to D. Pulla and Susheela Reddy in Devarakonda, India. Santosh graduated from Osmania University B.S. 1962 and earned additional degrees from St. Louis College of Pharmacy B.S. 1967, University of Missouri-Kansas City M.S. 1970, and University of Florida Pharm.D. 2005.
Santosh met his wife, Celia Reddy (Cedillo), while working at St. Joseph Medical Center in Kansas City, MO. They were married on September 26, 1970 and have resided in Olathe for the last 37 years.
He worked as a pharmacist for Dolgin's before opening his own pharmacies, The Medicine Shoppe in Olathe, Belton, and Blue Springs, followed by San's Medicine Store and Aldra Medical in Olathe.
Santosh was a strong advocate for community engagement, serving as a member of the Olathe Noon Lions Club for 33 years, including time as president. Additionally, he volunteered for the Salvation Army for the last 20 years and was a longtime organizer for the Annual Free Health Fair in Olathe.
Santosh was also an avid hunter and fisherman; long distance runner; tennis, cricket, and soccer player; and the undisputed family table tennis champion.
Santosh is survived by his loving wife, Celia, daughters Susheela Reddy and Kiran Reddy-Huggins (Josef Huggins); siblings, Dr. Vijaya Reddy (Dr. Venu Reddy), Manohar Reddy (Latha), Vikram Reddy (Dr. Sudha Reddy), and Melvin Dunn; as well as his brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, and his nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and parents-in-law.
Rosary will be held on Tuesday, December 11th 5:30 PM at Penwell-Gabel Cremations, Funerals and Receptions, Olathe, KS. Visitation will follow from 6 PM – 8 PM.
Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, December 12th at 11 AM at Prince of Peace Catholic Church in Olathe, KS. Reception to follow.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Olathe Noon Lions Club.
