Douglas "Doug" Reising passed away on May 11th in Olathe, KS at 59. Doug was born July 17th, 1964 in Omaha, NE to Roger and Donna (Turner) Reising.
Doug grew up in Omaha (except for a brief stint of living in Green Bay, WI as a child) and went to school at the University of Nebraska, where he graduated in 1987 with a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering. He went on to become a darn good pumps salesman to nuclear powerplants with Ingersoll Rand and Flowserve. This job allowed him to live in Nebraska, Cincinnati, the Chicagoland area, then Overland Park, KS where he helped raise his two children. He also was able to travel all over the United States for work, even bringing his kids along for the ride. Doug spent the last few years of his life retired where he always wanted to be, Florida, where he could go to the beach and get on a boat whenever he wanted.
Doug was always up for a good time and wanted to enjoy life to the fullest. He always had some sort of story to tell and there was never a dull moment with him. Though a bit of a party animal- he was always focused on his business ideas and was an avid golf enthusiast. Most importantly, he wanted to spend time going on adventures and chilling with his kids. Doug was also a very devout Catholic and made sure to go to mass each week (no matter what), prayed daily, and give his money to those in need. He would volunteer alongside the Knights of Columbus at the parishes he was a member of.
Doug is preceded in death by his parents, Roger and Donna, and brother Thomas "Tom" Reising. He is survived by his former spouse and mother of his children, Rebecca, daughter Erica (Matthew) McDonald, son Dylan Reising, his sister Krissy (Calvin Mojack) Bunner, nephew Cole (Katie) Bunner, and niece Kathryn (Zach) Swafford.
Memorial is to be in Omaha, NE this summer with more details to come.
Memorials may be given to Mercy Ships, Catholic Relief Services or the United Leukodystrophy Fund in Doug's name.
