Douglas S. Barnett, 54, of Olathe, KS went to be with the Lord Wednesday September 29, 2010 at home after a three year battle against leukemia. A celebration service will be held at 9:30 AM Saturday October 9, at Indian Creek Community Church. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the Indian Creek Community Church Live-Out Fund, a fund dedicated to furthering the Kingdom of God which was Doug's passion in life. Doug was born September 20, 1956 to Joe and Janelle Barnett in Bozeman, Montana. Doug leaves behind an incredible legacy. He was a loving husband, dedicated father, compassionate son, caring brother, revered teacher, encouraging coach and a passionate follower of Jesus Christ. Doug taught in the Olathe School District for 32 years, coached basketball for over 20 years, and served as President of The Kansas Association of American Educators for 13 years. He impacted thousands of lives, is loved by many and will be deeply missed.
He is survived by his wife Chanda M. Barnett, his daughter Jana May and her husband Josh and their two children Cayden and Ashten; his daughter Lyndsey Blunt and her husband Terry and their daughter Addison; his son Kole Ryan; his parents Joe and Janelle Barnett; his brother Ron Barnett and his wife Lori; his sister Cheri Thye and her husband Dave; and several nieces and nephews.
