Dorrel "Bud" Leon Nofsinger, Olathe, Ks, passed way on January 3, 2019.

Bud was born January 15, 1937 in Pleasant Hill, Mo to Dorrel Nofsinger and Alice (McCandless) Nofsinger. On June 8, 1968 he married Carol Winfrey Cease in Overland Park, KS.

He is survived by his wife, Carol and also his sons, David and wife, Dr Rebecca Nofsinger of Lansdale, PA, Steven and wife Laura Nofsinger of Gardner, KS and Gene and wife Lana Cease of Maryville, MO. His grandchildren, including Stephanie, Sarah, Ester, Susan and Zachary Nofsinger, Michael Cease, Justin and wife Anna Cease, Seth Rickabaugh and wife Kerri, Tanner Rickabaugh and wife Jessica and also 6 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by a sister Ann Averill and husband Larry of Wellsville, KS, a half-sister Elaine Sidebottom and husband Gary of Independence, MO and many nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by a sister Jeanette Brown and half-brother, Don Nofsinger.

Bud attended Wentworth Military Academy and Pittsburgh College and served in the Army Tank Corps. He worked 19 years as an Area Mechanic at Sunflower Army Ammunition plant in DeSoto and then seven years at Royal Tractor. Among his other jobs he was a salesman for Duff and Repp Furniture Company.

Bud was an avid genealogist, loved history and watching documentaries always learning about new places. He especially loved to travel, and was very fond of the mountains. Although he was a strong and private man, he had a wonderful sense of humor and was quite a cut-up and tease especially with his granddaughters and children.

He was a loving husband, with Carol being his best friend. Bud was a wonderful father to his boys and also a caring grandfather. He loved his family dearly, always putting them first.

Visitation will be held Thursday, January 10th from 6:00-8:00pm at Penwell-Gabel funeral home in Olathe, KS, followed by funeral services on Friday, January 11th at 10:00am also at Penwell-Gabel. Burial immediately following at the Olathe Memorial Cemetery.
