DOROTHY MAE STRAND
Age 84, went home to be with the Lord on January 13, 2009 in Overland Park, KS. Visitation and prayer service will be held on Thursday, January 15, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. at Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home, 14275 S. Blackbob Rd., Olathe, KS, followed by Graveside services on Friday, January 16, at 2:00 p.m. at Resthaven Gardens of Memory, Wichita, KS. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the charity of your choice.
Dorothy was born July 31, 1924 in Dillon, KS to Walter and Cora Shugart. She married Leonard (Bud) Strand on September 16, 1945 in Wichita, KS, and together they raised their family in the Wichita area. For many years, she enjoyed volunteering with the Salvation Army and other local organizations. Her collection of antiques was a source of pride and interest to all those who knew her.
She is survived by her daughters Jeanie Dolginoff and her husband, Gene, of Overland Park, and Connie Walden and husband Len of Wichita, KS, grand-daughter Kelly McReynolds, and three great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her brothers Don Bland and Herbert Shugart. She was preceded in death by the love of her life and her husband, Bud Strand, in 1985, one sister and three brothers.
