Dorothy Marie Hein (nee Anderson), 84, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, aunt and friend passed away at her home in Evergreen Community of Johnson County on Nov. 1, 2018. Born in Xenia, Ohio in 1934, Dottie attended Miami of Ohio University and later became a Registered Nurse at Christ Hospital in Cincinnati, Ohio. Dottie loved nursing and focused on geriatric care for most of her career.
Dottie soon met and married her beloved husband of 55 years, Dr. V. David Hein. Dottie loved to travel with family and friends, making new friends wherever she went with her outgoing personality. She loved the American West, visiting National Parks often. Dottie and Dave took their "house on wheels" (their RV, so-named by the grandkids) to many places and met many incredible people, experiencing the beauty and majesty of this beautiful country all along the way.
Dottie was an excellent bridge player and an accomplished organist. But these interests were surpassed by her love for her grandkids. Besides taking the grandkids in the "house on wheels", there were many intense games of dominoes, Disney and Pixar movie marathons, and breakfasts that only "Grammy" could make.
Of the utmost importance to Dottie was her faith in Christ and her church family at the Central Church of the Nazarene. This church family was always with Dottie providing support and exhibiting God's love.
Dottie leaves behind sons Todd Hein and his wife Maritte of Windermere, FL and Jeff Hein and his wife Anne of Olathe, KS as well as four grandchildren, Rachel, Greg, Matthew and Alex Hein. She is also survived by a sister Elizabeth of Florida, a brother-in-law Stewart Hein and his wife Sue of Mission Viejo, CA, and many beloved nieces and nephews throughout the country. Dottie was preceded in death by her husband David, her parents Bill and Helen Anderson and 8 siblings.
A small memorial service for family will occur at a later date in one of Dottie's favorite National Park locations.
