Doris Varian Ketner

Doris Varian Ketner, 83, Overland Park, Kansas, passed away Thursday, February 16, 2012. The family suggests contributions to Faith Community Church of the Nazarene Prayer Chapel Fund, 3450 CR 210 West, St. Johns, Florida 32259.

Doris was born February 4, 1929 in Cleveland, Ohio. She graduated from Eastern Nazarene College in 1950 and married Reverend William E. Varian, who preceded her in death in 1985. She served with him in ministry in the Church of the Nazarene for 35 years in Michigan and Illinois. In 1987, she married Reverend Francis D. Ketner, Jr. and served alongside him in the Church of the Nazarene for 25 years in Virginia, Illinois, and Kansas. Since 2001 they continued their ministry at Brookdale Place (formerly Grand Court) in Overland Park.

She was also preceded in death by her parents; William and Eunice Young, and a brother; Frank Young.

She is survived by her husband; Reverend Francis Ketner, Jr., children; Dr. Juanita V. (Chester) Copley, Valerie L. (Joseph) Beeman, John W. (Debra) Varian, and Rev. Virginia R. (Wayne) Bauer, stepchildren; Dr. Stephen D. (Deanna) Ketner, John W. (Carol) Ketner, and Saundra E. Ketner, Identical Twin Sister; Dorothy (Clifford) Walton, grandchildren; Aimee, Jennifer, Jenny, Sheridan, Blade, Astra, Jessica, Joshua, Jeremiah, Lawrence, Kiwi, Jessica, Ryan, great grandchildren; Ford, Cooper, Tucker, Wyatt, Jesse, Cody, Caleb, and Collin.
