Passed away April 28, 2009 in Olathe, KS. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society.
Doris was born April 20, 1913 in Pratt, KS to Thomas and Laura Lee. She was employed with the Textile Industry for over fifty years. She enjoyed baking, embroidery and crocheting, and was recognized for her beautiful afghan creations. The past twenty years she worked for the Olathe School District providing embroidery services.
She is survived by her daughters; Patricia Martin and Carolyn McCorkendale of Olathe, and Elaine Kite of Hixson, TN, her daughter-in-law Luise Kurtz of Fayetteville, NC, her sister Helen Kurtz of Olathe, her grandchildren Robert (Irma), Richard (Glenda), Donald, Beth (Kevin), Scott, Donald "Corky" (Pat), and Michael, and thirteen great-grandchildren. She is also survived by four great-great-grandchildren. Doris was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Kurtz in 1972, and her son Ralph Kurtz in 1999, two brothers and one sister.
