Doris Lucille Kehr, 87, of Olathe, KS, passed away on Friday, August 21, 2020 at Good Samaritan Nursing Center.
She was born on January 16, 1933 to Howard and Leona (Ball) Bond at Kalvesta (Finney County), Kansas.
In 1951, she married Emanuel "E.W." Kehr in Garden City, KS. He preceded her in death on Friday, January 10, 2020.
Always supporting her husband in his ministry in the church, together they served churches in Hutchison, Salina, Derby, Sublette, KS, and Poplar Bluff and Kirksville, MO, and Taylorville, IL before retiring in Elkhart, KS. After retirement, E.W. and Doris moved to Pueblo, CO where they lived for many years. Doris was a supporting and involved preacher's wife. She played the piano, participated in Bible Studies, and provided a home where visiting evangelists where welcomed and enjoyed her homemade chocolate and rhubarb pies. She helped organize and provide food for the church activities and loved being with the women in the church. Doris coached Teen Bible Quizzing in which Gary and LeAnn participated. She and E.W. attended every quiz across the state.
She was very proud of her two sons and daughter. Their achievements were her achievements. When her children were around, she was standing nearby supporting them with a smile. Doris was dedicated to her family and church family and enjoyed providing comfort and support to those around her. She also enjoyed gardening and day trips to the mountains.
Survivors include her children, Gary (Renee) Kehr and LeAnn (Steve) Yantis; grandchildren, Ryan (Sarah) Kehr, Brent (Meghan) Kehr, Jessica (Jason) Mitchell, Matthew (Megan) Yantis and Nathan Yantis, BJ (Amanda) Lorenzen, Mantha (Joe) Towns; great-grandchildren, Kylee Cando, Crosby & Mara Kehr, Edward, Shaye, Boden and Novella Mitchell, Mackenzie, Rachel and Mia Lorenzen, Brooklyn Towns, and Amara and Haley, and Rhys Yantis; daughter-in-law, Carolyn Kehr; siblings, Eula Covell, Ruth (Mitch) Daugherty, and Dale (Carla) Bond.
She is preceded in death by her husband, E.W. Kehr, and her son, James R. Kehr; brother, Glen Bond; and brother-in-law, Larry Covell.
Funeral services will be held on Sunday, August 30, 2020, 1:00 pm at Penwell-Gabel - Olathe Chapel, Olathe, Kansas.
Burial will follow in Oaklawn Memorial Gardens.
