On Saturday, August 20, 2016 Doris Jean Carter, 82, of Olathe, Kansas (formerly Waco, Texas) passed away peacefully in her sleep. Doris was born February 3, 1934 in Akron, Ohio to Clifford and Dorothy Longfellow. She grew up in Akron with her sister Lois. At 16 Doris met Daniel Evans Carter at South High School. They married two short years later. Doris was a loving wife, mother to four children, eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild. She worked with the Waco ISD as a teacher's aide at Parkdale Elementary, then later as Payroll Manager at Goldstein Miguel department store. She was also active in her church, Holy Spirit Episcopal, on the Alter Guild and a member of the Daughters of the King.
She is preceded in death by her parents, and survived by her husband Daniel E. Carter of Olathe, KS, daughter Mary Kay Hawkins of Dallas, TX, son Gary Carter of Willis, TX, daughter Melissa Bennett and husband Robert B. Bennett of Olathe, KS, son Daniel C. Carter and wife Emily Carter of Plano, TX, granddaughter Jennifer Hansel and husband Brad Hansel and their son Mason Hansel of Akron, OH, grandson Gary Carter and wife Connie Carter and their son Keigan of the Woodlands, TX, grandson Robert K. Bennett, granddaughters Kaleigh Bennett, Sarah Bennett, grandson Sean Bennett of Olathe, KS, grandsons Andrew and Austin Carter of Waco, TX, and sister Lois Freeman of Florida, and many loving nieces, nephews, and friends. The loss of presence will be felt by all who knew her
