Donna J. Meeker
January 18, 1943 — March 30, 2022
Donna Jean Meeker, 79 of Wellsville, Kansas; went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, surrounded by her family on Wednesday, March 30, 2022.
The 6th child of Claude and Marie Hedges, she grew up in Prairie Village, Kansas. She met Steve Meeker, the love of her life, while attending church at Overland Park Assembly of God. They were married in Sherman, Texas, August 10, 1959. Donna was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She adored and supported her family fiercely. Football games, racing, cross country, track, volleyball, baseball games, and cheerleading, she was always in attendance and you could rely on hearing that encouraging voice, above all others, from the sidelines.
Donna and Steve loved spending time together and with family; winters in Florida and numerous summers at the lake. They taught their children and grandchildren to water ski at a young age. She was so very proud of all of their accomplishments. Donna was the epitome of a life dedicated to Christ; selfless, loving, and compassionate. The days and hours spent making Christmas candy every year for her friends and family is a legacy none can compete with. Dessert was her forte, each was made their own with more love than anyone could imagine.
As a revered member of Abundant Life Church, her endless support for Steve and his music ministries was very evident. To serve others is the rent we pay here on earth was a belief Donna sincerely held close. One could always find coffee, donuts, or a delicious meal waiting for them at church services.
She worked for the Shawnee Mission School District as a kitchen manager for many years, retiring in 2007.
Preceding her death are her parents, Claude and Marie Hedges, sisters, Claudine Tyson, Doris Couch, Molly Cash, Betty Deffenbaugh and brother Harry Hedges.

Stumpff Lenexa, KS, Jason P. Meeker Tomball, TX, Tiffany M. Stumpff Kansas City, MO, Abby L. Jones (Robby) Nevada, MO, Leah Weeks (Brandon) Ankeny, IA. Great Grandchildren, Rollo K. Meeker Tomball, Tx, Lawson Jones III Nevada Mo, Asher and Aurora Weeks Ankeny, IA.
