OBITUARY FOR DONALD WILLIAM MEEKER
Donald W. Meeker, 80, of Leawood, KS, passed away February 12, 2013 in the company of his family due to complications from Parkinson's disease. Don was born April 27, 1932, in Topeka, KS. He was a devoted alum and proud graduate of the University of Kansas, earning an undergraduate degree in political science. He served in the United States Air Force as a pilot for three years. He then returned to KU to attend law school, where he was president of The Law Review and graduated first in his class. Don enjoyed a rich career, retiring as President of the Marley Cooling Tower Company. He later went on to be the owner and CEO of the Central Fiber Corporation. Don was a member of the Kansas and Missouri Bar Associations, The Carriage Club, and Delta Chi social fraternity. Life for Don was a great adventure. He had dozens of passions, including classical music, travel, books, Kansas basketball, and time spent with family and friends. Don had a big heart, a tremendous sense of humor, and treated everyone with kindness and respect. He is preceded in death by his parents, Laura and Frohman Meeker; son-in-law, Bill Crouch; and his wife, Mary Anne Meeker. He is survived by his wife, Bette Joy Meeker; his children, Anne Meeker, Donna (Meeker) Crouch, Ashley (Roberts) Wagner, James Dylan Roberts; his brother Robert Meeker; and 11 grandchildren.
