Donald W. Estes

Donald W. Estes, 85, of Olathe, Ks passed Thurs, April 18, 2019. Visitation will be 1-2:30PM Fri. April 26 at Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home; Olathe Chapel followed by a 2:30PM Graveside service at Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens.

Donald was born July 13th, 1933 in Guilford, Missouri to Louis and Edyth Estes. He graduated from Lafayette High School in St. Joseph, Missouri in 1950. Donald Married J. Joan Main, March 7, 1953. He was inducted into the United States Army in 1953 and served in the Korean War before being honorably discharged May 31st, 1955. Later he worked for Leonards meat company (St. Joseph, MO), Williams meat company (Kansas City, Kansas), and retired from Armour meat company (Martin City, Mo). He was a member of the American Legion Post #153 in Olathe, Ks.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers Gerald Estes, Dean Estes, Vaughn Estes, Eldon Estes, and his sister Mona Mucky and Carol McMurry.

He is survived by his wife of 66 years J. Joan Estes, their daughter Christine Plummer, (Robert), Grandchildren Chad Plummer and Jennifer Patterson (Keith). Great grandchildren Katelyn Kruger-Plummer, Kylie Kruger-Plummer, Serenity Plummer, Donovan Plummer, Jaiden Patterson, Slade Patterson, Marshall Patterson. Great-Great grandchildren Malaena Herriford, Emma Herriford, Elijaha Herriford, and Di-yamonte Herriford Jr.
He has a brother James Estes, and many nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Wayside Animal Hospital.
