Donald "Don" Wilbert Berlekamp, 88, of Lenexa, KS passed away on November 3, 2016. He was born on May 16, 1928 in Napoleon, MO to Urban and Mildred (Breeden) Berlekamp.
Don grew up in Napoleon and attended Lexington High School. On June 24, 1949, he married Alice Jane Faris in Buckner, MO. He loved spending time outdoors and enjoyed hunting and fishing. Almost every summer Don and Alice would load up the boat and camper to spend a week at the lake. Don also enjoyed cooking and in his younger years liked to build model airplanes.
He is survived by his loving wife of nearly 68 years Alice Berlekamp; children Dennis Berlekamp, Linda Benedick-Harlow, and Carol Berlekamp; siblings Delbert Berlekamp, Leland Berlekamp, Eloise Pack, Athleen Elkins, Lowell (Edie) Berlekamp, and Cheryl (Raymond) Smith; grandsons Scott (Kim) Benedick and Michael Benedick; great-grandsons Keaton and Tevin Benedick; and many cousins, nieces, and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents Urban and Mildred.
The family will receive guests for a visitation on Monday, November 7, 2016, from 5:00-7:00pm at Penwell Gabel Funeral Home in Olathe. The funeral service will follow on Tuesday at 2:00pm also at the funeral home.
