Diedre Janã¡ Chandler-Howell

February 15, 1964 — December 10, 2020

Diedre "Dee" Jana' Chandler-Howell made her last sarcastic and wildly inappropriate comment December 10, 2020.
Dee made her entrance on February 15, 1964, thankfully bypassing Valentine's Day lest she think it was her day. She was born to Douglas Fields and Janet Dennis Ferrell in Hugoton, KS.

Over the years and as more siblings arrived, she was certain to be the self-proclaimed favorite child and did very well keeping everyone reminded.
She is survived by her mother, Janet; her much uglier brother, Duane (Janet) Fields of Olathe, KS; her much sweeter sister, Jinjer (Kevin) Mitchell of Amarillo, TX; her resemblant, contrary sister, Jannyn (Robert) Clark of Casper, WY, several nieces, couple of great-nephews, a great-niece her significant other, Sean Racine, Olathe, KS and her father. And very importantly, not to be excluded, her very loyal dog Radar.
She was preceded in death by the love of her life, Orval Howell.

Dee enjoyed her years of school in Ulysses, KS. She enjoyed being a part of the National Honor Choir and touring through Europe. She graduated in 1982.
Dee started her early education and career in journalism. She loved her job at a magazine in Colorado. However, Dee learned early in life that she wanted lots of variety in her life. She attended University of Kansas School of Law and obtained her doctorate with honors. She went on to work in juvenile law, ghost hunting, self-employment including starting a touring company in downtown Denver and again in Wyoming, teaching classes at university, economic development, writing contracts, and she lived in various placed in the US and New Zealand.
She loved to learn new things. She took up gardening and was quite good. The same could not be said for her cooking. "The best meal plan is a restaurant reservation."

She spent her more recent years living her life to the fullest with her husband Orval. They traveled around the states finding every hill to hike and every zip line to ride until his death in summer of 2019.

Although a less than average life span, she did not live an average life. She traveled and lived where she wanted, laughed inappropriately at every chance, and learned what she wanted to learn.

Cremation only seems fitting as her final blaze of glory. A memorial service will be planned at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Kansas CASA Association501 SE Jefferson, Suite 2000,Topeka, KS 66607.
