Dennis Allen Rector, 75, passed away unexpectedly on January 1, 2025, in Olathe, KS. He was born on May 1, 1949, in Abilene, KS, to Clifford and Wilma (Spangler) Rector. On August 10th, 1974, he married Trina Carlson in WaKeeney, KS.
He was a resident of Abilene until his graduation from Abilene High School in 1967. He joined the Air Force for 4 years (1967-1971), stationed in San Antonio, Texas. He attended Fort Hays State University and had become a member of the Delta Sigma Phi Fraternity.
Dennis lived in Hays with his family until 1988, where he worked for Davis Mud & Chemical as a Field Engineer. Great Bend became his home from 1988 to the present day. He then worked for USD 428 and then Andy’s Mud & Chemical as a field engineer. He loved his 5 westies and I’m sure they greeted him with wagging tails.
Survivors include his wife, Trina, of Great Bend; a daughter, Kim (Mark) Murphy of Olathe, KS, a son Craig (Lisa) of Nickerson, KS; 7 grandchildren, McKay (Ethan) Rozean, Gunner (Lexi) Murphy, Josie Murphy, Taggart Murphy, Ashtyn Rector, Kason Rector, Wyatt Rector; and 1 great grand-daughter, Isabella Murphy. Dennis has a brother, Larry, of Topeka, KS, Steve (Ruth) of Olympia, WA, and Debbie Edwards of Fort Smith, AR.
Cremation has taken place with a graveside service for the family, planned at a later date at the WaKeeney Veteran’s Ceremony.
