Dennis Wayne Berlekamp, 73, of Spring Hill, Kansas, passed away on Wednesday, December 13, 2023. He was born on April 13, 1950 in Independence, Missouri to Donald and Alice (Faris) Berlekamp.
Dennis was born 3 months premature at home, without any help, and was considered a blue baby by the time a doctor did arrive. His first three months were living in an incubator. At a young age, he contracted the virus, Polio.
Although, he was handicapped and needed care, he kept a positive attitude and never complained.
In his younger years, Dennis had an amazing memory of all statistics of baseball and football players, for all of the teams. He has always followed the Chiefs and Royals and could give you any information on either team.
Dennis is survived by his loving sisters, Linda Berlekamp and Carol Berlekamp, nephews, Scott (Kim) Benedick and Mike Benedick, his great nephews, Keaton Benedick and Tevin Benedick, as well as many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Donald Berlekamp and Alice Berlekamp.
The family will have a Celebration of Life at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions in Dennis's memory be made to the Olathe Hospice House.
Dennis lived in the Spring Hill nursing home since Aug 2018. The family is very thankful for the loving care and special attention that was provided to him.
